Item description

HD Holden – 1965 – X2 Engine (Optional Equipment) This is a very rare combination of factory options for a HD Holden. This is an unmolested car with factory original parts that have not been modified; • Factory 179X2 Engine • Factory X2 Inlet Manifold. • Factory X2 Carburettor Linkages. • Factory X2 Carburettors – BXUV-2. This is a sequentially numbered pair – • Front Carburettor # 23-3009-5B • Rear Carburettor # 23-3010-5B • Factory X2 Fuel line & distribution block. • Factory X2 Air Filter assembly. A small container of oil for filter element is included. • Factory X2 Cast iron Headers. These are NOT the later 186S Headers. • Factory X2 Gauge set. The accessory gauges work. • Speedometer works but Odometer does not work. • Factory 3 speed manual gearbox. • NASCO gear lock including spare keys. • Heavy Duty prop shaft. • 3.08 Differential in Good Condition. • Factory Economy Heater that works. Note that the control lever is reversed. • Factory Radio that works. • Interior courtesy light, Glove box light and Boot light all work. • Glove box in excellent condition. • Factory safety padding on sun visors. • Factory moulded boot rubber (it does have tears) • Factory stainless steel Premier Window trims, Sill moulding & Wheel arch mouldings • Chrome mesh headlight protectors. • Chrome fuel tank cap. • Stainless steel Fuel spill tray. • NASCO external driver’s rear view mirror. • NASCO Rubber Mud Flaps - rear. • Factory Drivers manual, Radio manual and matching Satchel. • Factory Workshop Manual. This is a GMH publication & describes the X2 features. • Factory Interior with no tears or stains. • Factory front seat belts that match the red interior. • Factory dual horns (very loud)! • Engine reconditioned some years ago but has done less than 10,000 klms since. • Clutch was replaced at time of engine rebuild. • Engine Oil pressure is excellent both Hot & Cold. • Chrome wheels with 205 series tires in very good condition are fitted to the car. • The hood liner is in excellent condition with the exception of being a bit scruffy around the rear parcel tray. • Very good paint & body. • Most of the rubber seals are in very good condition. • Tow bar. • The car drives beautifully for a car of this era and is exceptionally smooth. • The car has been garaged with a dust cover for most of the time I’ve had it. • The car has had very little sunlight, as can deduced from the condition of the paint, rubbers & the interior. • Please take a good look at all the photos provided. There are some cosmetic things that I have not yet fixed ; • One crack in dash pad – to get plastic welded up • Crack in steering wheel – to get filled & painted. There are cracks in the paint at the bottom of RHS front guard and the driver’s door. The few non-factory items include; • Carpet set. • Lowered springs. • Heavy Duty front Sway bar. • Chrome Wheels • 205 series Radial Tires This HD Holden has had a long life, but a relatively easy life from my perspective. It has excellent performance for a car of its age. It drives very smoothly for a car of the 1960’s. I drive it only occasionally on some weekends. It is not a daily driver and has been well looked after. It has been garaged & kept out of the sun. I had hoped to keep it for much longer, but I’ve too many other things to do right now. The car is all very original and I do not think it has ever been driven hard. It has been serviced regularly with oil changes (HPR30) & oil filter changes (Ryco Z30), even though it is rarely used. The brakes were completely refurbished in the last 2 years - new wheels cylinders, new brake shoes, drums machined & front flexible hoses replaced. This is a very nice car.
